Phorest Pay - Deposits for certain clients / appointments
I find it difficult to get my staff to remember to take deposits. It’s very hard to remember “problem clients” and the flash up to say the client has missed appointments is not very effective. What would be good would be to add a feature that automatically takes you to the deposit screen when booking certain appointments. For example - new clients, selected “problem clients” or certain treatments (long ones ect). A pop up to the deposit screen to ensure deposits are taken, not allowing the treatment to be booked without would be good
We have an exciting update for you on this! This is now live for clients in Europe, United Kingdom, and Australia. You can now charge clients a deposit when they book online, helping to cut down on no-shows and boost your cash flow. Set smarter deposits by charging extra for new clients or clients with a history of no-shows.
To find out more and set this up in your system go to your Settings > Online Settings > Online Deposits. Here you can begin the setup and you will also find a how-to-guide. You can also contact your Business Adviser if you have any future questions.
Please note that no show protection is not currently available with variable deposits however this will be ready in June.
Next up in our plans for Phorest Pay will be the ability to charge the balance of appointments using stored credit cards on client accounts!
Note: If you are based in North America or Canada this feature unfortunately is not available to you. The online payments provider we use in this region does not yet give us the ability to add custom deposits. We will continue to work with them on this so in the meantime please feel free to vote and comment on this idea here: Phorest Pay – Charge clients a custom deposit when they book online (US & Canada) https://phorest.uservoice.com/forums/10715-software-ideas/suggestions/43504956-phorest-pay-charge-clients-a-custom-deposit-when

Can we do temporary holds on deposits and if they don't show or cancel less than 24 hours of appt we can process the paymemt
Thats great for on line bookings we already had an element of controll here anyway. What about in salon booking as the sugestion above states it staff remembering the treatments/ clients that need to be charged more. this update doesnt really address this!

we have the odd client that we would want to mark for online higher deposit. we dont want to use the over a certain no show option as we inherited an old system where customer may have had no show issues in the past but are no longer an issue.
It's been since April of 2020 that you started and was expected to be completed last year. Do we have an update on completion yet????
What are the updates for the deposits??
How long does this actually take?
Practically all other systems have this facility!

It would be nice to customize an automatic deposit amount for each service rather than have to go in an d manually do so.

It would actually help tremendously if we could have a way to take credit card info from appt screen. We are allowed to do this in the U.S. and it helps tremendously with no shows. Right now we have to finish making the appt and go back into the client card to add the cc. It's very time consuming and frustrating. Our last software had that capability and it alleviates staff forgetting to do it!
Give the option to require a deposit on appts. over a certain price limit- for example, if booking an appointment over £75 the client is required to pay a deposit of 20%. We have recently been having a lot of no shows for appts. that are of longer duration (ie. full head highlights, toner, cut and blowdry) which leaves a stylist empty handed for almost half a days of work.
When will this be updated? Have been waiting too long.

This is such a great feature but when they say competitive fee's compared to physical card machines, it's really not if we are to judge by the current fee's for online sells and gift vouchers. Given that my average service is £519 that would be over £15 in fee's compared with my card machine that is £3.66, this across 3 sites, 5 days a week really isn't saving me money it's costing me. Also if stripe is the provider they are using why is it over 1% more than working directly with stripe.
Will there be any changes occurring to increase the deposit taken from online bookings.
Having a link to text to the client to secure pay a booking fee/deposit would be great. That way they do t have to read CC numbers over the phone to us. We can just tell the. That their appointment won’t be confirmed until deposit is received.
Consultations automatically take £20 booking fee which is redeemed against treatment if they attend the appointment and we don’t refund it if they don’t turn up
Please could you say booking fee rather than deposit.
Deposits are refundable booking fees aren’t. Thank you.
If you can make it so that we can have 3rd party payment integrations that would be the cherry on the cake, so to speak!
Currently, Stripe in the UK offers the best rates in terms of % - only taking 1.4% + 20p per transaction, but they also support Apple Pay. I'm sure your developers would make use of the resources on their website : https://stripe.com/docs/api
No need to reinvent the wheel...just adapt with the times ;)

Let clients pre pay ahead of coming in or be able to choose how much of a deposit people have to pay when booking.
Link Phorest payments with the bank so that we take only one payment
A 100% needed
